Guiding High School Students Toward Meaningful Careers

We provide free career assessments and one-on-one coaching to help students uncover their strengths and confidently plan their future—before graduation.

Success with our “After School” program encouraged us to expand our offerings to include a veteran program that help vets get jobs. It is well known that when vets come back from fighting wars, they have to refocus their attention to a much different world than the one they just left. This transition has caused many problems in many vet’s ability to adapt to a new life. Finding out what they are good at and like doing and getting the right job, are huge steps toward blending back into our society.
There are a number of groups in our country who are trying to help vets get jobs, but many just have a current job availability board where the vet can apply online. Without the vet knowing what kind of job they want and are good at, they are just “poking in the dark”. Our program gives a definitive career path with multiple jobs available in that career area to the vet. The vet has a lot of jobs available to him/her but all are in a career area that that person is good at and likes.
The career counselors in these groups help the vet with their decisions on what jobs to pursue. These counselors are certified by Career Direct on how to interpret their career tests and guide the vets both now and for the next few years to make sure the vet made the right job decision, and if not, what other job in the same career area would be a better fit.

We asked this question to AI.

What percent of college graduates get jobs that are within their majors?

AI answered this:

A significant portion of U.S. college graduates work in jobs unrelated to their major. Studies indicate that only about 27% of graduates are employed in positions closely aligned with their field of study. Approximately 47% reported that their first job after graduation was not related to their major, and 32% never worked in a job connected to their degree.Erudera+1The Washington Post+1 CBS News+4PR Newswire+4WQAD+ This trend is particularly evident among graduates in fields like science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). A U.S. Census Bureau report revealed that 74% of individuals with a bachelor’s degree in STEM disciplines are not employed in STEM occupations.Census.gov
